Today we take a look at Telford Homes, Capital Interchange Way, London, Brentford TW8 0EX.

We speak to a couple of construction staff on site and ask about the balconies which they install.

  1. they worry about you being able to see into windows with a drone then stick high rise flats about 60ft apart where everyone that lives in them can see in each others windows

  2. Dj, why was you quite rude to the black hat when he asked a very simple question and then you went on to ask him questions all nicely? I feel sometimes you deliberately try to start a bit of trouble 😏

  3. Very interesting video today, it’s so nice when people provide information about what is going on. The chap that you spoke to about the balconies was great. I went to Sapphire Baconies and the bloak that talked about the balconies was right. Those balconies are totally filled with supports. Great video mate.

  4. Hi DJ. Just seen a new auditor in my local area. His channel name is JR Audits, and it would seem the local area doesn't seem to know about the airspace rules. Only one place knew as they mentioned you in one of his Eastbourne videos, in the Pevensey area.

"You don't do much building do you?"
    How exceptionally rude!
Someone interested asks a question and gets spoken to like that!
If someone knew the answer then they wouldn't ask a question would they?
Disgusting attitude to show to someone who is interested in what's going on. 😑

  6. 15 people equates to approximately 1 ton. The streel poking out of the building for the balconies are canter levered, 2 thirds of the steels are tied into the main structure. The snots are clean out of the cavities to prevent water tracking, and thermal bridging. The steel have historically extended the full width of the balcony, first time that I have seen bolt on sections. I have worked on many buildings as a site engineer, so know fair bit about structural engineering.

  7. That Sapphire Balconies site was worth a visit. Full graphical illustration on the different methods to fix a balcony. Their new glide on system is fantastic.

  8. i'm not fooled by the hi vis and hard hat – those balcony fixings are a shortcut – any shortcut in construction is weaker than the tried and tested method of fixing into the brickwork – I've had companies with all the approvals and certifications for inventions/products fob me off with this paperwork when I highlight design flaws in the fixings causing failures – and go as far as to suggest I don't know what I'm talkling about – but i'm always proven right when I carry out my own strengthening mods and suddenly they become fit for purpose and stop failing with use

  9. Poor bloke has been married for like 30 years and not once has his wife asked a balcony related question. Women can be very cruel like that..

  10. Those are called luffing cranes. DJ you should look to see if they have a D.E.P. box. I'm not sure if you use them there, but it stands for Dedicated Emergency Platform, it's used when a worker is injured and and can't make it to First-Aid on his own. Check for it next time you are looking around with the drone. It should be a box with a tent on the top that say's D.E.P. As a person in Hi-Rise Construction in Canada I don't recall seeing it it 2010 when I was last over there.

  11. Brilliant question he was totally unable to answer! The steel beams that run through the concrete beams are not what holds the balcony, it's the twelve flimsy bolts that attach the balcony that the carry the load. Not for me thanks, I do hope someone remembers this vid years down the road when the bolts have rusted and the claim goes to court!
