I had a spare road bike that I wasn’t using, and ended up doing a trade for a lynskey GR250

Its my first gravel bike, still need a little more mechanical work to do, but excited to share.

It came with a redshift stem and a s-works suspension seatpost which i’m not sure if i’ll keep on the bike. Full sram rival 1×11. I’ll get some bigger gravel tires on there soon, and work on building it up to a proper gravel/adventure bike.

    Few questions:

    – Whats a good rear cassette gearing? it currently has an 11-36, not sure if I should swap it out for an 11-42 or not.

    – Tire ideas? currently I have 35mm gravelking slicks, but it can take 45mm’s officially, but have read that 47’s will fit too.

    – I want to add some color to it, bottle bolts, valve stems, etc. What color do you think would look good with it? I’m feeling purple, but not sure. ( I’d love to swap out the red headbadge, but new ones in different colors are $150 )

    – I’m undecided on which wheels to use. Currently I have the H plus Son archetypes that I stole off one of my other bikes, but also have a pair of brand new shimano RS 105 alloy wheels. Both are the same width.

    – Any other upgrades, bits and bobs you think I should swap out on this guy? I’m not looking to build the fastest or lightest bike out there, this bike I want to build up to simply be the most fun bike in my stable.

  2. How hilly is it where you ride? I like to go better than 1-1 so on my 2x I have 30-36 and on my 1x I have 40-50.

Nice bike! 45mm Gravelking X1’s inflate to about 47mm on my Zipp 303 Firecrests. My Ti gravel bike also maxes out at 45mm but 47mm leaves about 3mm on each side, which is fine for titanium.
