I recently came into possession of a new to me mountain bike and am trying to identify which model year it is. My dad bought it a couple years ago for himself thinking he would use it but never really picked up the sport. I decided I would give it a try and see what mountain biking is all about. I’ve been an avid road cyclist for a couple years now but never dipped my toes into mountain biking. From everything I can tell it is a Santa Cruz Bronson CC. I don’t know which year it is though. I am wondering if someone can let me know if this is a good starter mountain bike or should I look for something else. The bike is a size large and I am 6 foot. (The third photo is a picture of the serial number. I don’t know if that helps or not)
Thanks in Advance!

Bro you could literally google santacruz Bronson cc (the words on the bike) and learn everything you need to know. Look for what year had your color.
Plus, you already asked this on another sub Reddit and got all the answers you need.
SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
🤣😂🤷🏻♂️
It’s a great bike and it’s your size. Enjoy, that’s an incredible first bike.
Anything else thinking this is stolen?
Its a V2 Santa Cruz Bronson that was produced from 2015-2018. Its like an all mountain mid-travel trail bike, it was designed to be versatile.
The “CC” denotes a higher spec of carbon fiber. The bike is lighter and stiffer than its lower spec “C” counterpart, however, more fragile (though, that will be up for debate).
At the time of production, this bike was absolutely top spec. There really wasn’t a nicer mountain bike money could buy. Now, its still a nice bike, but a bit dated. Geometry has changed a lot, so have suspension kinematics. Also, we’ve gotten a much wider gear range since this bike was on the market.
This was a *super* nice bike 5-10 years ago, and its still really nice bike, though much different than the modern Bronson. You can head over to [bike insights dot com](https://bikeinsights.com/compare?geometries=66c4d25468fe42001a3ccf0f,606be72f6a641a001c23396c) and compare this V2 Bronson to the new V5, they don’t even look like the same bike. Next to this bike, the V5 Bronson looks like a DH bike.
And components wise, the MTB world has come a long way since this bike.
Nice bike. Old bike. Should be great for a beginner.
Ask dad.
One of the last good Bronsons before Santa Cruz decided to butcher them in 2022.
Looks like it’s either a 2016 or 2017 Bronson.

That’s a santa cruz Bronson cc.
Let me know if you need any help identifying what suspension you have, brand of tires or anything with big letters on it, I can lend an eye to get that info for ya.
