I currently attend a university in which it can be a little too far to walk but also a bit excessive to drive to unless you have a parking permit (which obviously I don’t have). Thus leading me to bust out my older brothers bike he owned when he attended NAU a couple years ago. The tires were pretty worn and had gashes in em so I replaced them with some Schwinn 29” mtn bike tires and tubes. I took it on a test drive down the neighborhood and it seemed to hold up well. However there was some creaking noises coming from the front. Anyone know what that may be? I did some research and think it might be low tension in the spokes but still unsure. Anyways, I’m looking to become a first time bike commuter and for this bike to become my mini restoration project as it still has some worn out parts (rusty chain, stuck in one gear, old brakes, etc).
