Hi community!
I'm going to be doing my first medium term bikepacking trip this summer – the Iceland ring road. I have done a few 2/3 day bike trips and am an experienced backpacker but this will be a first!
I'm going to be upgrading my very basic REI CTY 1.1 for the trip. I'm looking for a bike at $1000 or under that can handle roads and occasional gravel paths. I'll be carrying camping gear. Ideally something I'd use for this trip and others (unknown for now). I'm currently looking at REI's ADV 1.1 or could rent the Trek FX2 in Reykjavik. Any other models I should be looking at?
Some disclaimers: I'm a daily biker but don't know the technical jargon. This is also my first Reddit post so let me know if I'm not following some rule/convention.
