Hi all, I just picked up a brand new megatower gx axs today, and I‘m thinking the bike shop messed up installing the derailleur. When the chain is in the smallest cog, it contacts the derailleur body and makes noise (chain the wrong length?). Additionally, I went through SRAM’s setup guide and it says to have the setup key in position B – but it was in position A when I received the bike.
Additionally, looking at the bushing, it seems like they put it on the inside of the frame, instead of from the outside as SRAM instructs. This also appears to have chipped the paint… so not super impressed there. Can anyone confirm if this looks incorrect? I’m planning on taking it back tomorrow to get them to fix it, but not sure what to do about the chipped paint as I want to avoid taking the derailleur off to see how bad the issue is (to avoid the claim that I could have caused the issue).

Yeah that bushing is on the wrong side. You can count the links to determine if it is the right length. Sram has a calculator online for each bike.
The bushing alone says that they installed it incorrectly. Transmission is great but it also requires a specific setup and is pretty sensitive to mess ups during installation. Stuff like cassette torque as well as axle torque can result in poor shifting.
Looks like the chain length is incorrect. Not sure about the bushing.
Bushing is definitely on the wrong side. Search SRAM full mount chain calculator and it will come up. Count the links. Reinstall per srams instructions. It’s pretty easy

This is why I do all my own work now. These bikes are far to expensive to leave in the hands of some novice high school/college aged mechanic.
If I can verify that the mechanic working on my bike is making *at least* $30/hour, sure. But that is usually not the case. Most shops in my area are paying mechanics just above minimum wage. I don’t trust that with a $5k+ bike.
Isn’t it missing the hanger?
Bummer. Hope they do right by you.
Not sure about the derailleur (don’t have experience with this kind) but the chain also looks a bit too long
