Unfortunate to see P&H Motorcycles in Sussex is yet another bike shop closing down. Groombridges, Stan Stephens and now P&H Motorcycles.
What is the fate of the UK Motorcycling scene?
Watch and listen to me waffling on and let me know what you think…

Another great video 👍
Love ur stream I did 2 weeks airside work experience airside for baa Heathrow saw concorde takeoff am n night arrival good old days love planes n bikes
I used to go to school with paul from p&h. When he started the shop in orchard street with mark i helped fit the shop out with them. Paul used to do me very good terms on the new bikes that i bought from him ie pay for them weekly with cash and no interest.
In return i would work on his house round the corner from the shop in west green
i thought there may have been a mention of "henry" who was the "H" of p&h.
They could have been getting burned by the ongoing troubles of KTM which as I'm sure you know has now gone into admin; not sure how that's going to work out, but it won't have done its dealers any good. Also you mentioned locals but Manor Royal, which is where their last shop was, is on an industrial estate. There aren't any locals.
Marsh group also gone in last couple of weeks. (Triumph & Harley Davidson in Plymouth, Yamaha in Exeter, Harley Davidson in Southampton and the Used car centre in Exeter) Both the Street triple and the speed 400's have been recent sales hits but still couldn't turn a profit it seems.
I think the country is going to collapse. No decent cars or bikes at a reasonable price. Most main dealers have below average mechanics at best. Not much countryside left to enjoy.
Everything is breaking down in the UK so bike shops aren't immune. It's depressing to see most towns falling apart
Paul worked his butt off I do remember Henry as well as mark ! So sad 😢
Self inflicted stupidity.
here's a bit of a clue there are over 1700 food banks in this country if people have to rely on food banks then motorcycling is not at the top of the menu ,just google uk food banks
i did block release in bristol tech 200 miles from home ;; total wanker then , little has changed now , still crap at riding bikes , but we are still here , great honest story , thanks ,
mine was at bedminster , [ knocked down now ] the place was full of rd's , kawa 500 750 2 strokes , moto guzzi 250 2 strokes 6 cyl benellis 900 zi's e.t.c. just unimaginble now ;
My KTM is from there 😕 My thought is that peeps can't afford new bikes in these times, but can stretch to a 2nd hand bike?
Wales warned you….
EUSSR at work…..soon they will probably ban all ICE vehicles…
It seems I got into motorbikes at the wrong time 🤣 im always last to the party. Since getting on 2 wheels weather has been dreadful we didn't get much of a summer. Lots of bike shops closing down and big bike brands are struggling. Insurance is sky-high and basically off-putting for anyone just starting out. Roads are terrible with idiots in cars and potholes being big enough to swallow the front wheel, oh and don't forget scrotes stealing bikes left right and center and police do nothing. But it's the best thing I decided to do the freedom it gave me is crazy. Apart from last friday it was nearly the end for me on 2 wheels when some ass hat reversed into my bike and drove off but me being third party I didn't have a claim (didnt get car reg) so lucky the damage was a couple hundred and mostly plastics.
Thunder road Cwmbran (South Wales) shut down due to financial difficulties 👍
Seems like riding in the UK is definitely on the downturn. I reckon its better to go to Spain or Italy a couple of times a year, hire a bike for two weeks and ride around the twisties. Actual time on the bike will probably work out the same as owning a bike in Blighty given that owning and riding in the UK is pretty much governed by the weather and the actual cost of ownership.
It sucks when companies don’t want to keep up with the times social media can be a positive thing if your willing to keep on it. At 58 when I was a teenager we still had shop classes so for the first 4 hrs of school I was working on cars for the school lol something I think they need to bring back in schools but I don’t know if these kids could handle it. Hope all is well with you and the family we are finally starting to get winter weather here so cheers from overcast and cold Southern California!
Couldn’t care less about P&H to be honest. Their service department was crap. Took my ZX12R to them to diagnose a massive overfuelling problem and they just fobbed me off after a few hours and told me they were all like it……
So all ZX12R’s exhaust glow cherry red after a quick gentle ride and are virtually unrideable due to surging and bucking?
Off to another motorcycle store and low and behold I’ve got an injector that’s stuck open just dumping tons of fuel in to the cylinder.
Good riddance.
No one noticed who the biggest bike retailer in the uk is, and how much they undercut everyone????
Expecting some opinions on shop closures…. not a f'in life-story from eamon andrews.
SORRY FOR YOUR TROUBLES IN THE PAST.. STAY SAFE
No more SuperBike factory. They sell finance, not bikes.
Plus all their bikes look like theyve been pulled from a lake. 3 year old bikes with rust on brake banjos etc.
I wouldnt buy a matchbox car from the chain.
O Alex your one of our own
Such a sad story of mostly your own doing. I'm wondering if you mind set has possibly changed after 25 years, to have a slightly more positive input /output on events happening around you. I say this as there was very little content on the P&H scenario, and more about personal stance🤔
Welcome to brixt 👍🏻
You get what you have voted For .
Live with IT .🥒👍🏻
The "SUPERBIKE FACTORY " Will go the same way as remember years ago " CAR CRAFT" same Business Model . You can only stitch up so many smucks for so long with finance / poor quality bikes . By then it is too late the Honest dealers/ traders are gone.
It doesn't help that getting a licence is a major ball ache.
I love bikes and had a good few over the last 60 years. However I honestly feel that as a form of transport perhaps not best for commuting these days.
I wonder if motorcycle dealers should all look like the dealers brand , how does one dealership then stand out from the rest of the dealer network if they all look the same inside and out ? Unfortunately I doubt this is the end of the closure’s.
I’ve been a customer of P & H for very nearly 30 years. They never really seemed to recover from the Covid period and the lack of bikes. Shame, especially for servicing availability. Airport night did have quite a lot of crew out by the way, I can’t remember the name of the bar that gave discount but it used to get packed.
Park motorcycles in Eastbourne also closed last month
I don't know about that bike shop but my local bike shop quoted me £600 for a service. It took me 2 hours and cost £55 including buying a cheap torque wrench. If they charged sensible prices they would be busy.
I did my work experience here in Belgium at Felix en Jos, which back then was a main yamaha and honda dealer, Loved it. They are still alive and kicking but only deal Honda. I also might pick up a 954 early next year 🙂 I'm very excited.
Just found your channel, i only live half hr away on the coast.
I bought a P+h's demo Gsxr 1000K5 in 2006, only done 2k miles, loved that bike .. i kept it standard, but it got ruddy stolen from Donnington park motogp weekend a year or so later, i went back to P+h and bought a busa, another mistake as it made 150 odd boring, should have gotten another standard K5/6.
Liked and subbed…cheers 🍻
When I saw this I couldn't believe it, I've bought a few bikes from P&H over the years when I lived near Horsham …sad times indeed….
Yamaha dealers charge £240 (plus fitting) for one single genuine coil pack for an XT1200 Super Tenere, which has four such packs. The same Yamaha coil pack has a Mitsubishi logo on them and they can be bought elsewhere, without the Yamaha packaging, for only £50 each. Bike manufacturers need to stop gouging bike owners.
