  1. What happened to the helmet? That was a very tame fall and you look like your rolled into it which is good. Helmet is probably ok.

It looks like when you hit that root, the concussive force caused you to squeeze your brakes. That was a super low speed uphill crash.
I would suggest a local skill clinic, that will give you better technique to make it easier to overcome those obstacles. Also someone can watch you ride.
Remember, only a single finger on brake levers, and you don’t need brakes uphill

  3. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ big one! Na have done that a few times. Don’t worry about the helmet you’ll be fine. You get used to preparing for those roots and you won’t even think about it next time

  4. I’m no pro but it looks like your sitting. Stand up going over roots. Absorb the root and push through it.

With my current bike, first ride on a fresh build I go over a small rock that has a funny exit into another rock. Being unfamiliar with the bike I tap the front brake and of course it locks right up because I tapped it a bit harder than I realized. I went over the bars on probably the flattest section of that trail. The section I crashed on is really simple but sometimes you use the wrong technique and you go down, we have all done it. I actually have it on vid too lol.

Edit: good thing I have it on vid because I misremembered the hell out of it…it was even dumber than I remember [vid](https://old.reddit.com/r/Hardtailgang/comments/17ea52e/the_test_ride_was_a_success/)

  6. It looks like you got spooked and pulled the brakes, and the brakes worked. Am I right?
