I fully agree with you about canal cycling being a great recovery ride, something about water and especially its reflections giving me a relaxing vibe. Also the easy terrain and navigation gives a welcoming change to my usual type of route.
A lovely little pedal, one of my faves Doug. We (GGCC'ers often ride the Twechar road next to the path on club runs, one a clear day /evening with that view of the Campsies it's stunning. A nice wee tailly to carry you along makes it perfect 👍. Gotta take these Spring days when we get 'em 😉

If you get a chance you should go further onto the union canal, think it’s better with more to see than the forth and Clyde.
Just a couple of miles beyond Auchinstarry have a look for Silvanus. On south side of canal but worth a wee detour. ,,( big metal heed)
