2 year old winter tire, was left alone in bike shed for about one month. Rear tire looks like this, front tire show signs of same damene, but with no visible cord yet, just cracks in the sidewall. Both looked fine last ride.
It looks like it was ridden with too low air pressure and the edge of the rim damaged the outer wall.

Looks like the tires reached puberty and are starting to grow hair on the bead.
Does it get sunshine in the shed? That tire doesn’t look safe to ride

That’s total sidewall casing failure combined with significant cracking of the sidewall rubber. Is there an ozone source in the shed somehow? Like a brushed motor or otherwise? Some other oxidizer, like chlorine, for a pool? Because I’m having a hard time picturing anything but an oxidizer killing **both** rubber and casing threads in 2 years.

Could be salt as it looks like you have salt corrosion around the spoke nipples. Possibly you live near the sea or maybe road salt as I see you have ice spikes. If so just make sure you rinse the salt off after riding in bad conditions.
