Dr. Abhishek Upadhyay is a postdoctoral affiliate of Trinity College, Cambridge and since October 2022 has been a research associate at University of Cambridge, UK.
Abhi holds a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology engineering from India, a research-based experimental master’s in marine biology from Hong Kong, and a computational PhD (his thesis spans just 24 pages) in systems biology from Germany.
After working in Switzerland, Abhi moved to Cambridge, UK on a Global Talent Visa to conduct research in collaboration with University in Kyoto, Japan.
He has collaborated with scientists from academia and industry, including IISc Bangalore, Universities in Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Berlin, Heidelberg, Munich, Basel, and Novartis. He has received full scholarships and travel awards to present his research at prestigious institutions, including Oxford (England), Max Planck Institute, EMBL (Germany), Weizmann Institute (Israel), Colonia del Sacramento (Uruguay), Melbourne (Australia), San Francisco, Hawaii, Harvard (USA).
Over the past 13 years abroad, Abhi has globetrotted to over 60 countries across 6 continents. In his spare time, Abhi enjoys photography, travelling, bicycling, punting, hiking, football, flying gliders, and spending time with horses. He is also an active member of the Polo Club and a lifetime member of the Cambridge Union, the World’s oldest debating society.
