The 60-year-old radiated elegance in a Max Mara Custodi double-breasted cream jacket, which featured a wide collar and an ankle-length hem.
Underneath the sophisticated coat, she wore a soft lemon-colored dress from Beulah London, likely paying homage to the race’s signature yellow hue.
With her blonde hair styled in a chic updo, a few loose strands framed her face, adding a touch of softness.
She completed her ensemble with Maddox snake-skin wedges and accessorized with geometric silver earrings.
Sophie was seen beaming with excitement as the announcement was made, enthusiastically clapping while standing beside Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, who also looked thrilled.
The announcement is expected to be met with great enthusiasm from British cycling fans, as this marks the first time both the men’s and women’s events will take place in the same country outside of France in the same year.
The UK has hosted parts of the Tour de France four times before, in 1974, 1994, 2007, and 2014, making this a historic moment for the race.
Following the official reveal, race director Christian Prudhomme presented a delighted Sophie with her very own yellow Tour de France jersey.
During the event, the Duchess was seen conversing with British track star and five-time Olympic champion Dame Laura Kenny.
She also shared a lighthearted moment with retired road racing cyclist Mark Cavendish.
Additionally, Sophie engaged with a group of young cyclists, all dressed in the bright yellow attire associated with the legendary race.
The men’s 2027 Tour de France will commence in Edinburgh, with further details about both races set to be announced later this year.
