The only thing that chain should touch as it runs through the cage is the jockey wheels.
If it’s hitting any metal part of the cage, then either the cage is damaged or the chain is routed incorrectly.

looks correct to me. Sometimes people (like me) mistakenly put the chain under the metal piece that goes between the sides of the derailer cage, but that is not the case here.
