Hi all, I'm new to wrenching on bicycles. Looking to get the right headset.
Here is what I've gathered:
-1 1/8" fork steerer tube (straight)
-44 mm head tube top and bottom
– I think the frame is an older Norco xfr which uses a zero stack?
Can some confirm if the headset I'll need would be a ZS44/28.6 ZS44/30?
Additionally, is that the bottom race from an old headset on the bottom of the fork?
Thanks all 🙂

From the pic I can see the old bearings on the floor. Do you have calipers to measure the inner and outer diameters of the bearings? That is where you start.
Your fork does appear to have a crown race installed. If you buy a complete headset kit, it may come with a new crown race. You might be able to just reuse what is already on the fork. If not, there is a bikeshop specific tool for removing the old crown race, which is not something you’re going to want to own. You will need to take the fork to your LBS and have them 1) remove the old CR; and 2) install the new one. The rest of the headset bearing installation can be DIY.
Yes, the correct headset for a 44mm ID head tube and straight 1 1/8″ steerer fork is ZS44/28.6|ZS44/30
Yes, that is a crown race on the fork, you’ll very likely have to remove it, as it most likely won’t be compatible with the new headset.
