I’ve only used bikes for occasional rides and recreation. After almost 8 years without one, I finally decided to get a bike again—went with the Grand Canyon 5 since it was on a good discount on Canyon’s website.
My planned use: 40% on stable terrain (no mountains/hills), 60% city roads. It won’t be my main transport—at least not for now. I didn’t want to spend a fortune upfront since I’m unsure how much I’ll actually use it.
A lot of my bike-enthusiast friends are telling me to cancel the MTB and get a gravel bike instead, but the closest gravel bike in this price range costs almost twice as much.
I’m curious—what do seasoned cyclists think about the Grand Canyon 5? And with my use case in mind, would you return it and go for a gravel bike instead?

Get some gravel tires and you basically have a flat bar gravel bike.
