Hi!! I’m a frequent biker (bc I don’t have a car) but I know nothing about fixing or updating my bike so I appreciate the help!

I have a trek road bike that is newish to me with standard handlebars. I really like the bike, but I miss the look/feel of the drop bars I had on my previous road bike. Up until this point I didn’t want to spend the money to buy a new handlebar PLUS the new brake levers required for a drop bar set up.

However I was biking around and saw this road bike that had bullhorn style handlebars and the same standard type of brake levers that I have (at least they looked like that to me).

So I was curious if this sort of set up would be easy for me to figure out how to update myself? Or if it’s even recommended to have that type of brake lever/ handlebar combo? Let me know what you think! I attached pictures for reference (first 2 pics are my bike, third is the bike set up I saw). Thanks!!

In order to attach the bullhorns to this handlebar, you need to do the following.

    1. The bullhorns clamp on to the end of the handlebars

2.Remove the grips, see how much space the bull horns take up.

    3. Trim the excess from the grips.

    4. put the grips on, then attach the bull horns.
