hello,

I am an amateur cyclist currently on a hybrid bike (focus crater lake) running in tarmac. after research i decided to go with endurance road bike. (never tried road bike before)

I need your help to choose the best VFM for my case. My goal is to do rides of 50-100km.

Im between the 3 bikes on the picture and was wondering how much difference is 105 to the 105 di2. and then the AL wheels to Carbon and if i will be noticing any difference.

Also, if it’s better to get the AL and upgrade later to Carbon wheels if it doesnt make much difference.

what do you guys think? is there any other option to consider too?

thank you for your feedback!

Canyon’s endurance bike is called the **Endurace**.

I am in the exact same boat…. I keep staring at this sight hoping I don’t make a $3500 mistake.

  3. if in doubt, just get the cheapest one. save that money and you’ll have the same amount of fun on all three of those options.

  4. All have the same frame, i believe. I would go with CF7 and then if you want, invest in good set of wheels/tires or whatever you want with the remaining money.
105 mechanical still one of the best, you don‘t need electrical shifting (in my opinion)

  5. Of course, this is heavily dependent on your budget, but I’d go with the regular 105. Electronical shifting is nice, but if properly indexed, the mechanical shifting of 105 should serve you just fine.

I don’t really get carbon rims on a relatively entry-level bike and are not at all a necessity on short rides of 100km.

That being said, if you’re sitting on a heavy bag of cash and willing to splurge…

Edit: beginners are more prone to fall. Carbon is very sensitive and will break easily if you crash. Aluminium does not.

AL is more sustainable from a recycling point of view but heavier and less aero.

A set of 35-50mm aero wheels would be a substantial gain but can run the cost of the bike. Prob find some on a marketplace of some kind.

If you are not a weight weeny AL will be fine but 300g is a good saving.

Carbon wheels is a way better upgrade than electronic gears. However, 35mm is a bit shallow, i would aim for at least 45mm

  8. just get the cf7. you could still get di2 when These gears etc are too worn. or whyever you would dislike them.

also you could get deep carbon wheels with this saved money. the gain would be a lot bigger and deep rims just look Amazing
