Super stoked I was able to fit 29 x 2.1's on this bike, with 2mm of clearance between side knob edges and fork legs, seat and chain stays. However, this bike will be ridden in the summer/ dry conditions with this configuration.
I loooove my Niner! Yes, they are conservative on max recommended tire width. I have 650x 57mm (Renee Herse Umtanum Ridge) with a little clearance for mud.

Yeah…I wouldn’t ride that with that little clearance…even in dry conditions

Ugh I wish my top stone would take a fatter tire I should’ve researched more before buying my 1st gravel bike. It has 37s and I think I can mayyybe for 44s but not many brand makes that size

2mm clearance is within the realm of the wheel and frame flexing under load. I have a Niner and the chainstay seems pretty tight. Even a 50mm feels like it’s pushing it.

The sizes are indeed a bit conservative and mostly just for a guideline, tire and rim combo will make a difference.

More people should try a Niner. I was convinced I wanted a Stigmata until I was able to do a side by side comparison. The RLT 9 RDO was hands down better in every aspect, imho.

Love my Niner! I’ve got the grey version, but I’ve only got 42mm teravail cannonballs on it.

Love it!
I’ve got 50s for gnarly stuff and 38s for road and Cadillac gravel.
Currently running GRX 2x mech, but putting together the parts for a SRAM 2x AXS swap.
Anyone know max size that’ll fit on the rear with a SRAM AXS wide FD?

You’ll have to watch for rubbing. I thought I could get by with the same clearance but no dice.

I ride 45’s on my Niner, mtb tires seem like overkill.

I dont get why they don’t ramp up the clearance to 29×2.1 or 29×2.2. all gravel tires with excellent mud clearance and a toj of xc mtb tires. Just lengthen the chainstays
