Heyyy nice bike! Feels great getting back after a crash eh?

I recently picked up a FX Sport 4 after crashing my old Diamondback Insight 2 in February. It was needing to be replaced soon anyways and after everything bent with the crash decided it was time, also the rim brakes did me dirty. I took roughly a month off to recover. Pretty sure I broke a rib or two and possibly my hand. Went to the doctor about 2 months after and described what happened they said likely broken rib and possibly hand, didn’t bother getting X Rays because I live in America and that isn’t cheap, and why bother…

Anyways… I had just accelerated up to 21MPH after about 6 miles of riding through my dead end neighborhood with speed bumps and 20mph where people are always careful and I ride every night. I arrive at a 3 way intersection, I’m going left, and don’t have a stop sign. There’s a car or two behind me but they’ve been following since the last cross street, clearly saw me and were keeping their distance. The street to the right of the intersection has a stop sign… but what do you know big ass UPS truck comes barreling down the street out of nowhere looking like he has no intent to stop and has his left signal on to turn directly into me, right when I lean into my left turn at 21MPH, so I panic, hit the brakes, skid a little bit, think I’ve got it because I was leaning left and still sliding with forward momentum, bike must have caught on something or disc brakes caught real hard, idk but next thing I know I’m flipping over the bike and slammed sideways into the pavement like a hammer, still clipped in. All of my weight (230lbs) slammed down onto top of my right side mainly impacting my right hand and my my right elbow hit the ground first, followed by my ribs, so I think I kinda landed on my elbow and jammed it into my ribs. Busted my GP5 ends off and my chain. Broke the clip on my Giro privateers (sad) bent the hell out of my derailleur. So I pulled over, fixed it up. And finished my 15 mile ride all hyped up on adrenaline. Looking bad, probably a bad idea… but I lived. Couldn’t take a deep breath for about a month couldn’t really move much if I laid down; was hard going from sitting to standing, etc… wasn’t fun. Mostly fine now but still can’t lay on my right side without pain.

Anyways… picked up the new bike about 2 weeks ago and have been back it. So I’m super pumped.

Very excited for you. Not sure what you came from but this is also my first Trek bike. The quality has been impressive thus far!
