The quiet roads, the slow little towns, the Roman bridges—it’s easy to forget what century you’re in on this stretch of the Portuguese Camino.
I’m biking the full route from Lisbon to Santiago in sections this winter and documenting each ride. This one started in Alvaiázere, passed through Ansião (where I found a 17th-century bridge and bathing tanks built for a queen), and finished in Coimbra.
Coimbra absolutely lives up to the hype. The University feels like Hogwarts, and the forests just outside the city center are next-level peaceful.
If you’re into POV-style Camino rides, I post them on Virtual Runs and Rides with BoomCrashPow. Would love feedback from folks who’ve walked or cycled it too.
