Day 40 of biking across Europe with my parents – 1,500 meters of gain (roughly 4500 feet). A good slog broken into manageable chunks with smoke breaks.

When I first pictured biking in Europe I wasn’t so excited. After Africa, it felt like another step backward. But with my parents—and now my old buddy Jan—the ride has had a whole different dimension. Instead of drifting across a predictable continent on my own, I’ve had the reward of shared experiences.

Tomorrow, the four of us are heading to Pisa, there is some sort of tilted tower there?
