  1. How much are they asking for it? Also, will you be using the bike off-road? Or just as a commuter/pavement bike?

It looks fine, obviously hasn’t been ridden a great deal.

Make sure it fits ok, it’s better if it’s a bit too small rather than being stretched out to reach the brakes comfortably. Saddle looks a bit low, it has a quick release so you can adjust the saddle height easily.

Try different saddle heights until it feels too high and then adjust down an inch. It has cable disc brakes, they work well but could start squeel or rub eventually so need a bit of maintenance from time to time.

Chain needs just a thin coat of bicycle oil to keep the rust at bay. The existing rust on the chain will wear off when you start pedalling, it’s nothing to worry about!

Judging from the photo it looks OK I would say. If it is within your budget and it is fits you I would say go for it. The important things is that you ride, not whether you have a super fancy bike. Good on you. Welcome to club, hopefully you will enjoy it.

Now, for things you can disregard from. There is no need for suspension as you will only ride on tarmac, or even nicer gravel. Suspension is heavy, and can be an annoyance to maintain. Furthermore, you don’t need knobbly tyres. There are, as far as I can see, no mounts for anything, whether that be mudguards (fenders) or racks.

Lastly, at least get an ass saver. They are cheap, easy to install, and will deal with the some of the spray should you ride when it is wet outside.

    Good luck and have fun.

Looks pretty sweet for $150! The only thing I can see is that the chain looks dirty / rusty. Make sure it’s cleaned and lubed before you ride. And you may want to have a bike mechanic check that the chain hasn’t stretched (they’ve got measuring devices for that). If it’s stretched, you’ll need a new chain, otherwise you’ll wear out your gears really fast.

  5. $150 for disc brake is a good deal. Too bad it looks like mechanical, not hyraulic. Still a good deal for bike in good/excellent condition. Enjoy and have fun.
