Seems like the dude is trying to recoup some money he spent into the thing. I wouldn’t pay over $400 for this, but I’d honestly keep scrolling and pass. Bike is 13-14 years old, repainted, alloy wheels, (why) carbon crank, and who knows what else underneath the paint.

Can I ask why do you want this bike in particular? There’s gotta be other used and nearby options for $750.

  2. Steel is fashionable so everything is over priced right now. There are some small brands making pretty good steel commuter bikes for $750-1250, you just have to find at a shop in your area.

You offer what you think it’s worth then listen for a yes or no. If yes, you trade cash for the bike. If no, you move on. Every seller considers every offer a low-ball. They then hang on to said item because all they got were “low-ball offers”. In reality, the thing isn’t worth what they think it’s worth. So yea, just make an offer. Simple.

  4. you can’t. people will rather let their bike rot unused than sell below a price they want

  5. I have a 1986 Bianchi Sport SX that is all original with Shimano 105 group set.
Wild Plum color is not Celeste Green but is a bold statement.
    Make me an offer, LOL.

  6. You can’t, but the good news is, there are so many bikes for sale, just keep offering!

  7. Just wait, the market is so slow right now, give it a week and if it’s still up shoot him an offer. I wouldn’t shoot an offer if it’s only been up a couple of days.

Its not just that it is steel or it has been repainted – 10 speed SRAM Red is the lightest groupset and demands a premium – buying replacement parts is very expensive. Also, people desire the celeste green bianchis. I dont blame the seller for holding tight on the price. Most comments on this sub are “i wouldn’t pay more than x dollars less” or “subtract 150-300 dollars from x price.” There is a real market here for those who actually know it. If you like the bike, there is no doubt you are getting VALUE for the price paid. Just because a same year Trek or Fuji with ultegra/dura ace is worth less doesn’t mean this bike is worth the same.

This bike is like 20.6 lbs stock. Just comparing google searches. Maybe he dropped 2ish lbs on the Sram Red over Apex(stock). The wheels are a quarter pound heavier then stock, blame google if I’m wrong. The hubs would be heaver than stock also. The headset might be about 50 grams lighter that’s .1 pound difference. I tell everyone the same thing YOU like those components, but they don’t make the thing better, they made it the one you want but it might be mine soon so they don’t make it more expensive. I bet the bike weighs about 18lbs. and that’s not a good deal for 750, I wouldn’t pay more than 500, and only if there weren’t any other options. That would be around 400 in my area. I just paid 200 for something older but about as light. But I understand that not all markets are similar. I just happen to be able to drive reasonable distances for insanely good prices.

  10. That’s a very nice bike and I’m sure rides like a dream. You wouldn’t regret buying that

Price seems fair imho… but I’ve you don’t know “who” Chris King is, my assumption is that you also don’t know what (631 & red) you are buying, and therefore this bike might not be the right one for you.

The only thing that I have questions about is why a 5 y.o. bike gets a repaint.
