Today, we celebrate what would have been Albert Einstein’s 146th birthday. Born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany, Einstein revolutionized physics with his theory of relativity and the famous equation E = mc². He was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics and later immigrated to the United States in 1933.

The Leo Baeck Institute Archives preserve a remarkable collection of Einstein’s personal and professional life—from his travels and scientific achievements to his love of sailing and summers in Caputh. Among these treasures is Einstein’s guestbook from Caputh, signed by notable figures like Chaim Weizmann, remains a testament to the intellectual gatherings he hosted before fleeing Nazi Germany.
