Get the Nextie or LB version. Nextie made them way before Zipp OEM for 3T but much less $.

XM carbon speed (email Peter@xmcarbonspeed.com) has a 50mm deep 28mm internal rim, ~1350 grams. I got mine with some upgrades for $650 shipped. I had one of my friends who is a local custom wheel builder look them over and he was very impressed with the quality.

An even more affordable option is the Elite ENT gravel, they offer a 25mm internal, 38mm deep, ~1600 grams for $450 shipped.

  3. Just find a local wheel builder and see what they have. Some are importing Chinese carbon rims.

You can get a nice wheel at a decent price while supporting a local service.

I have 9Velo GV45’s on my Lauf and I really like them. They’re pretty light and so far I haven’t had any durability issues and I’m not a light dude at all.

  5. Light Bicycle lets you build the wheels you want from the hub to the rims to the spokes and everything in between at a good price.

Just buy some Light Bicycle wheels. The Zipp’s are comparatively heavy, expensive, and the hubs are ass.

I’m a LB dealer, have been for years, and they have been very reliable.

Also, for what its worth, all of these midmarket carbon wheels are coming from exactly the same place, Xiamen China.

  7. i bought some chinese wheels😁 alot of people like elitewheels. im getting DAO wheels . some gravel stuff with inner width of 24mm. i have shimano rims on of my gravel wheels i think their under 23mm no problem getting the 50mm tire on

Is it an illusion, or is that a pretty slacked out ride? What it the head tube angle, and how does it ride?

  9. I just bought and received Elite Wheels Drive (road) and they’re way nicer than I expected. I don’t have a lot of experience with nice and high-end wheels but I’m very happy with them. The Drive series is from their website in lieu of AliExpress and they also have a gravel version.

  10. Good deals on Elitewheels on Ali express that sponsor GCN and a few conti teams I believe. They sell their current models on their own website and sell last year’s models at a good discount on Ali express.

  11. Yoeleo makes some really interesting gravel wheels for 990$. Internal 26. I would have bought them if available last year. Otherwise I suggest Fulcrum Rapid Red Carbon or the equivalent from Campagnolo.

I got some from ICAN and have beat the living heck out of them. Gravel races, hard trails, cyclocross practice. Held up so well for me probably around 5k miles on them did replace the rear freewheel switched from shimano to sram.
