Kona lava dome 2002 (steel) plus gekko fork that I've got for free (steel) a suspension seat post and (for now) older slx 3×10 group set. On 26 wheels. Ps. Asking cause I feel that fork top and the frame looks weird with the size difference (diameter). (Also yes the headset is not installed because ain't ready to start installing parts just yet)

Time to get some calipers and do some measurements.
What is the axle to crown and rake of the OEM fork and how does that compare to the original? If they are close it’s not going to change your handling much. Drastically different may be dumb but you may enjoy it anyways.
No it’s not dumb.
If it fits and you like it, go with it.
If it fits, it whips.
Is it a longer fork than the 26? Only problem I see is if the fork is so long the bike looks and feels like a chopper. You could go 650b dude!
As long as the goal is fun, it doesn’t matter if it’s dumb.
The design of that fork looks like it would have an integrated crown race. Post a pic of where the steerer and fork meet, I bet it won’t accept the crown race that your external headset requires.
Also you sure that fork is steel? Looks like oversized aluminum tubing to me… which would make more sense with an integrated crown race. I looked around online and couldn’t find any info on it under the Gekko brand name.
Yes but its also awesome, so by definition is not dumb.
For what it’s worth, I like it.
being dumb is one of xbiking’s core values
