It can’t hurt to slowly run a tap through. It can’t make new thread, but clearing out the crap is never harmful. Use lots of cutting oil. If you take it to a shop I’m sure they’ve worked with shells in worse shape.

I think that a new BB or the existing one will be OK. It looks like the existing one wasn’t threaded in deeply, and that section looks OK to me. I think there is enough good thread to install a new one too.

Should be able to retap that, yep. Just make sure you’ve got the correct chasing tool, make sure it’s sharp, and use cutting fluid.

Just take a small wire brush if you have one for a dermal that works the best and your all good

The outer threads is still ok but da inner threads i think it needs to be rethread it

Here in the Philippines if we can’t remove the old bottom bracket instead of using proper tools we go to machine shop and they’ll destroy the old bottom bracket and as you can see the inner threads in the bb shell is melted because of the welding

  6. What bottom bracket are you looking to thread into that bottom bracket shell? The reason the inner threads are so much worse than the outer threads is because most bottom brackets don’t actually use them.

I have no idea what your tool availability is, but a *chasing* tap is preferable to a cutting tap if you’re going all the way in – it’s just going to be a lot harder to find.
