Day 9, Battling the Wind to the Incredible Carcassonne
Today’s biking adventure took us from Bram to the legendary Carcassonne, and it was another intense ride as we fought through 25 mph headwinds once again! 🚴♂️💨
The journey along the Canal du Midi was scenic but challenging, with a rougher path full of roots and bumpy terrain as we entered the Aude department. Despite the tough conditions, the reward at the end was absolutely worth it—Carcassonne, one of the most spectacular medieval fortresses in Europe!
This UNESCO-listed city, with its towering walls and fairy-tale turrets, looks like something straight out of a storybook. Originally built by the Romans, then expanded and fortified through the Middle Ages, Carcassonne remains one of the best-preserved medieval strongholds in the world. Walking through its massive gates and along its cobbled streets truly feels like stepping back in time!
