Just wanted to share that I finally decided to replace the brakes and the drivetrain to 1x on my Giant Trance 2 2015
Now the bike has only the hubs, fork and the cranks stock
I love how silent is the 1x drivetrain compared to the 2x (but in comparison this SunRace cassette shifts like trash, the 2×10 system was so smooth, but i guess only because of the smaller gaps between the cogs)
I bought the bike second hand in 2021 with already changed stem, handlebars and shock (guy said it was stolen from the bike in the common bike storage)
Later i upgraded to bigger rotors in the front and bought a dropper post (also changed the handlebars), changed the rims so i can fit wider tires and feel more comfortable in the bikepark, also to make it tubeless (which i still didnt do, because i go biking 15-20 times a year, and i tend to change the tires depending on the weather – i might install the valves later this year and fill in some sealant
I got some vynil to cover the outdated blue design on the frame
The current upgrade costed 270€
110for the brakes (4 piston deore, 2 piston xt)
140 for the drivetrain parts
20 for the shimano dropper lever (finally a normal lever xd)
I know this money would have been better to save for a new bike, but i felt like i dont have 2k to spend for a bike this season, and this way i can bike more from that money (if that makes sense)
Would anybody have done this?
What do you think about the bike?
Would you buy it in 2025? (For how much?)
