    Also considering:
    Scott speedster at $300-400
    Shwinn Phocus 1600 – $200
GT Legato 2.0 – $130 (will need new back tire soon)

The Felt Broam is a good bike, as is the scott speedster. Can you tell me which model speedster it is—or what the groupset is?

The Broam has a claris groupset, shimano’s entry level groupset. Claris > Sora > Tiagra > 105 > Ultegra > Dura-Ace. Most people recommend 105 as the best value/money for an amateur sport cyclist. That being said, I have bought and ridden sora and claris and they perform to Shimano standards.

Hard to say whether it’s a fair price, really depends on your area. The bigger the city, the better the supply of used bikes and the more likely you are to score a better deal. Where I am I’d hope for something better but it’s certainly not a ripoff.

If the Scott is in good condition and has a Claris or better groupset and disc brakes, I’d go with it. If the Scott has tourney groupset, I’d go with the Broam. It looks like it’s in great condition and comes with the pump and bottle cage, which is nice.

As always, the best bike is the one you ride! Can’t go wrong with either—good luck!
