Listen here nerds. I came to this subreddit trying to get advice for the Trans America. Again and again I saw the advice of “toughen up,” “you’ll get wet either with sweat or the rain,” “have you ever taken a shower before.” So off I went without any. I have now rode 2000 miles of the Trans Am and can very confidently say no one is tougher than driving rain on a 40F day. You’re not that tough, I’m not that tough, no one is that tough
What, are ya gonna just ride in wet ,cold rain all day with numbs hands and feet?! Then go set up your stupid lightweight tent in the more rain and crawl in getting everything soaked in the process!?
Have you ever been soaked in a sleeping bag? I have. It sucks. Everything stays wet forever.
Don’t listen to all of those go-fast-losers. Take a jacket, take some pants, and take some damn water proof socks.
If you wanted to be truly fast you’d drive or take a plane. You’re not that fast but you can at least be comfortable.

Someone told you to ride your bike in 40 degree rain without any protection?
