  1. Wait. Wait. What are you doing? What bars are you swapping from and what are you swapping to? Did you just buy random step bars? Canyon have proprietary parts. What model bike to do have?

You need to have this job done by a bike shop you don’t sound like you know what you are doing and this could put you at a serious safety risk.

  2. Thats not a brake cable, it’s a brake hose and it’s filled with hydraulic fluid. So take it to a shop

  3. You don’t want to do that over your carpet. That line is filled with DOT fluid, which is corrosive. You’ll need a bleed kit and then bleed the brakes once you re-connect it assuming you’ll use the same lever. Also, the stealth-a-majig is not reusable, so you’ll need a new one too. Better take it to the bike shop.

Thank you for showing that this is not as easy as I thought. Before this image I thought I was able to swap the bar parts without detaching the brakes, but it’s not doable. They could have designed it to be able to get the brake hose out without disconnecting it from the brake levers, missed opportunity.

Dude when disconnecting brake hoses and reconnecting them you should use new olives to ensure that it’s perfectly sealed. In addition to that you will most likely need to rebleed the brakes as you will spill some oil in the process. No offense but it seems like you aren’t aware of any of that and shouldn’t be doing this. The brakes are one of the last parts i would want to mess up. Better take it to a shop or do some deep research.
