Reposting so I could attach images:
I got a Brompton on FB Marketplace recently and I noticed that it did not have the brazed on part where you could bolt on the front luggage rack. I also noticed that mine doesn’t have the rear frame clip that latches on to the suspension block and keeps the rear frame from folding.
I’ve done some googling and I read that Bromptons only started using the rear clip sometime in the 2000s.
I was wondering if someone here knew when the front luggage block was introduced which would help me in dating my unit. FWIW I saw BS6102. on the frame near the chainring so I imagine this would be its frame number.
Also, I’m curious if you guys have recommended solutions for being able to bring luggage in the absence of a front luggage block. Of course there’s always the rear rack option but would love to hear ideas. Thanks!

I have a 2008 Brompton, and it doesn’t have the rear suspension clip (I think they introduced it shortly after).

I think he has some carrier solutions.
BS6102 is the British Standard for Bicycle Safety, all bikes sold in the UK should have that sticker
BS6102 refers to the British Standard to which all bicycles in the UK must conform to. The serial number should be on the label on the back of the seat tube, but it seems to be a short wheelbase frame with the original rims and calipers, so it’s early 2000’s. The brake levers and shifter are not original. The tyres are original and are now very old and should be replaced.
I think you may have a counterfeit Brompton
Hinge lever is cheap and easy to install. Might be out of luck with the front block sadly.
