Lies…. Unless it's a double red line a vehicle is allowed to stop… Double red = no stopping, Double yellow = no parking… Bigger issue is bus lanes. Taxi are allowed in bus lanes uber are not… So an uber is unable to stop in a bus lane to pick up or drop off.
“The reason is interesting” complete clown if you think that’s the reason! Black taxis can’t pull up in most places due to the introduction of cycle lanes. Hard work dedication and the highest standards of driving? There your find the reason. If you have ever spent a day in your life in London your realise how appallingly shocking mini cabs are and Ubers. There a polished turd! 💩 Black cabs understand lane positioning. Routes mapped out in a nano second. Areas to avoid at times of the day. Split second reactions. You don’t see any Black cabs with there bumpers hanging off in London. There is a concrete reason for that.
Rubbish! PHVs are allowed a 2 min grace period for picking up/dropping off in the same way black cabs can.
Black cabs are allowed into bus lanes because the fleet is 100% wheelchair accessible (unlike PH which is 0.6%) and the drivers have earned the right by studying and completing the Knowledge of London.
Uber drivers would also be allowed if they were willing to put in the time and effort.
And a back cap have a "fixed" price. Meaning the taxi meter will stay the same at nearly all the time. Compated to Uber there will charge more when ita buissy
Nope, both taxis and private hire vehicles (Uber) can pick-up and drop off passengers in exactly the same spots. Including in bus lanes and cycle lanes. Unless it is a taxi rank which is exclusively for taxis.
So much misinformation online nowadays masquerading as fact.
As for why black taxis still exist well why not? They are one of the few traditions we still have left here in London. Most of our culture has been replaced or erased.
Taxis aren't the cheapest option but they are still the most reliable, efficient and safest compared to other cabs. Taxi drivers don't only know the routes but they know all the little short cuts and ways to get around London which are not shown on maps/sat navs.

Ello gov'nor
Also we have the knowledge of London 🧠 & certain sections of roads we can access which some vehicles can not.
Actually ubers and the others are now more often dearer than getting a proper taxicab – like 50 percent more expensive
Black cab is for people who stays in “The Ritz” not for “Travel Lodge” they use Uber 🤣
Because they are better full stop uber are rubbish

Cool video 🔥 What about driver’s health? Follow me for more tips on how to stay a healthy driver 💪🛞📈
All of this convenience comes at a hefty price. I’d never get a black cab, unless I’m absolutely desperate. Far too pricey for what it offers.
Actually we (Private Hire – Uber) can pick up and drop off EVERYWHERE except on bus stops or "zig-zag" lines on pedestrian crossings
Because uber drivers suck
