  1. Ofcourse he waits, the crash looked bad enough to consider he might not get on the bike, but then he realised he was getting back and closing.

If Pidcock already put an attack down and then Pogi crashed it would be different, but they were still riding together

  2. Fine choice to wait; it was still a long way out. Probably, he and his team decided on a certain effort level to see if Pogi would bridge the gap while maintaining it.

A second place at Strade Bianche is massive for Q36.5. Also, with Pogačar crashing, it would've taken away a lot of the shine from the victory. If Pidcock had exerted too much effort and then been caught and dropped, his podium spot likely would've been endangered as well.

Van Hooydonck's analyses are quite interesting, and his perspectives are valuable. I do hope he transitions into Dutch commentary, though. When he's commentating with native English speakers, it doesn't feel fluid enough.

Then again, it's a sport where figures like Voigt and Contador, to name a few, are given spots in English commentary. Legends or not, it can be challenging to listen to them. Also, that French reporter who interviews people everywhere—it's difficult to listen to. If interviewing people in English is your job, it would make sense for both the employee and employer to ensure quality. A language course would go a long way.

I am not a native English speaker either.

  3. Tom still needs to get stronger to be able to take on the top guys and win, on a regular basis…

He waited for Pog to catch up after the crash and kept him honest until Pog pulled away on the climb…

Been baseless and utter nonsense aimed at Tom by some, calling him a "Knucklehead" for his tactics in the race…

He made the correct decision when he made the move that pulled Pog along and distanced the peloton… He went for the victory and Pog crashing or not, he still got a top drawer 2nd place…

He showed that he is not afraid to go head to head with the best, whereas the others are always waiting to be beaten…

He gets stronger and he will definitely be there challenging for the big races…

And for those who would slate him for his supposed "arrogant attitude", Tom only speaks his mind… As a double Olympic champion and road race winner, he knows how good he is at a number of cycling disciplines, be it road or mtb…

  4. What a dumb question. Cycling is a sport of unquestioned ethics. A bottle to a rival team, waiting for a rivals mechanical/crash. It’s rider v rider.

  5. The gentlemen's agreement isn't about waiting so they would not attack you later, it is about doing the right thing in the right moment.
I am not saying that applied here as I haven't seen the race, but that woman does not know what she is talking about!
