Day 4: Agen to Moissac – Cycling Through History and Beauty

Leaving Agen, we continue our ride along the scenic Canal de Garonne, winding between rolling hills and charming villages. Along the way, we pass through Valence d’Agen, a bastide town built by the English, perfect for a quick rest stop. As we cycle past lock keepers’ houses, many adorned with colorful flowers, the peaceful atmosphere of the canal path surrounds us.

For those up for a challenge, a detour to Auvillar rewards cyclists with stunning views and a chance to explore one of the most beautiful villages in France. With its historic circular grain market and picturesque streets, it’s well worth the climb.

Our journey ends in Moissac, a town rich in history and home to the magnificent Saint-Pierre Abbey. The abbey’s entrance is adorned with some of the most important Romanesque sculptures in Europe, making it a highlight of the trip. Another incredible day of cycling, culture, and adventure!
