A 'starter' 3BR house in Oxford/Cambridge/Outer London is about £350k (~CND$600k). These are expensive UK places, but not crazy expensive.
Not really a good comparison. Historic castles tend to need significant maintenance and probably needs another £3 million just to get it liveable! Not to mention that 3 million pounds sterling is around $5 million Canadian dollars, so all in, you're looking at $10 million if you want to live there! 😅
