Also what should I be looking for when buying a used bike? Thanks for the help!

Provided that they are both the correct size… i’d go for the S1. Looks to be in better condition, and not set up as a TT-bike. Regular roadbike setup is the way to go for your first bike/only bike.

So not start out on a time trial bike. You will crash.

Definitely don’t buy the TT set up. They aren’t as fun and are purpose built. It would not be comfortable

Get the second one (the one without the aero bars) the time trial bike is much harder to ride sitting up

Get the S1 primarily because it’s not a TT bike and also because it looks like it’s much cleaner. Is it your size?

The first is more of a triathlon/time trial bike. It’ll be less comfortable. I’d go for the second, which is a proper road bike.

That S1 looks clean, it’s still a very capable bike.

Neither. Go find something less showy to start with, Decathlon, Cube, with Shimano 105 and disc brakes. Find a local bike shop to get a fitting and who can service it regularly. Get used to all your kit, your way of riding then gradually upgraded the bike.

Go for the S1, $500 is on the higher end of what I’d pay for something this old but this was a NICE bike in its day and would be a great way to get started
