On this ride, I cycle from Exeter to Bovey Tracey to begin the world famous Haytor Vale hill climb.
Haytor Vale is a long exposed climb from Bovey Tracey up to the top of Dartmoor. It is relatively sheltered for the first half, but then as you go through a couple of 12% corners it is open to the windswept Dartmoor moors β where you may either face a strong headwind or (if you are lucky) a rarer Easterly wind.
There is a variable gradient throughout the climb β some flatter sections for recovery. There is a final kick for the line with a finish at 10%.
The Tour of Britain has often had a stage which finishes on Haytor Vale.
Location: Devon
Distance: 3.6 miles
Avg grade 6 %
Max Grade: 12%
Elev Gain: 353m
Cat: 2
100 hills #9
My observations are the subject of this ride. So come along and enjoy another great cycling adventure.

Channel looking good with your new branding. Lovely blue skies and fantastic scenery. I bet it gets bleak up on top of Dartmoor in mid winter. How many miles do you get from your chains and how often do you have to change your sprokets? Cheers.
