Hey all. I'm in the middle of a frame swap from my hardtail up to a full sus trail bike. Just noticed these slx 12 sp jockey wheels are free spinning and one has some side to side play.
Worth swapping or not bad enough yet and just send it?
Shimano Jockey wheels, replace or just send it?

They’re not precision items.
Keep going until the teeth wear out
A little bit of side to side play is normal. I imagine these have bushings rather than bearings, so you can take them apart really easily and grease or oil the inside. Not spinning freely is not a big deal, the resistance they give is virtually nothing.
No worries.
And clean your transmission.
Best giving them a clean also
Theyre not expensive and to me it looks like theyre pretty worn.
They’ll probably work for a bit still, but replacing them oozes your mind and doesnt make you have to push your bike home one day because one of them broke.
Please clean you drivetrain
Its normal, side play allows the chain jockey to move about certain angle to match various chain line in every shift.
Clean drivetrain is fast drivetrain.
Time to replace it with Ceramic speed bearings and oversized pulleys and gain 3 watts
My sram GX is far worse side to side play. I checked and no issue especially shifting. My XTR also have side to side play and run no problem. So it’s normal. Please clean your drivetrain so that your chain can last longer and quieter and shift smoother. You be surprised.
