The road to Formula 1 is one that is long, arduous, tumultuous, and expensive. This most exclusive of sports becomes increasingly exclusive as you ascend up the ladder, and eventually, you have to use either the power of your lap times, or the power of your chequebook to get to the top. For the first time in 2025, Rawe Ceek is upon us; another year, another season. And with that, another new batch of drivers. As time has gone on, the number of routes available to make it to Formula 1 have dwindled. In the olden days, just being a mechanic who could fix up your own car was enough. But amongst the rookie class of 2025, all of them came through FIA Formula 2 and as a member of a driver academy. As rookies, they are of course, for the most part, yet to experience the thrill of the Formula 1 grid; but today, we’re going to level the playing field a bit, and ignore everything the veteran drivers have done in Formula 1, and look at what all 20 of them did to get here, and rank it: what titles they won, with which teams they won them, how many attempts it took them to win them, and who they beat to get them. Ranking all of them has honestly been very difficult, as they’re all in Formula 1 for a reason, and all have very impressive junior careers; but take this as my explanation and introduction of who is on the 2025 Formula 1 grid, and why. If I remember well (correct me If I am wrong) Leclerc "downfall" in 2015 European Formula 3 was also down to Zandvoort crash where his chassis was damaged and the car was not good afterwards.

Can't wait for the "Ranking EVERY F1 Driver of The 1950's" where Peter has to rank every single random Indy 500 driver that technically counted as a F1 driver.
But seriously, if you ever do get to that video, I think it would be fair to only count the Indy drivers that took part in "proper" F1 races.
I dunno, Max's junior career seems more impressive to me than George's, considering Max always won against older drivers in karting and only needed a single season beyond that to earn an F1 seat.
Just for some context around Strolls cost to get to F1, it's larger than the GDP of at least 8 countries, and yet he still hasn't won a race.
Personally would have ranked Max lower and Leclerc higher. Great video though!

I get it that it has become a regular thing to always call Stroll one of the worst drivers ever to be in the sport. He did get a lot of funding (the most funding in the history of the sport probably), however he actually did something with all that funding. Saying his junior career is only the 18th best of all drivers is just not true. He was insanely quick. It's not like he got all that funding to just finish 5th in F2 once and then getting a race seat at Haas like Mazepin
Russell is an absurdly underrated driver. Even in recent years, while Hamilton hasn't been on form, I think Russell has made him look so much worse
