Is it worth it? Budget hardtail

I’m considering buying a Kross Dirt 1.0 (2017) in good condition for $520. I’m looking for a hardtail with 27.5” or bigger wheels, something that isn’t too heavy and can handle forest trails comfortably. I also want to try beginner downhill this season, so I need something that won’t fall apart or be too sketchy on descents.

My budget is around $700—would this be a good option, or should I look for something else? Any recommendations?
