At any given opportunity I will get off of the main roads. It feels like a whole different existence when there are a bunch of loud cars and trucks.
I take a bumpy grass path next to a canal when I go grocery shopping. I take a long short cut through a neighborhood that ads about 2 minutes to my commute just to get away from the noise. And the danger.
I love this Soo much but I wish there were just more spaces without cars.theres not ways to avoid them where I'm at.

I would argue that you are also making your ride safer by being further from the cars. People do get injured mountain biking and on cycle paths but in road accidents, the outcome is more often fatal. And breathing in less petrochemical fumes is a very good idea. Yay bikes.
Yeah I always try to avoid the busy roads. Firstly, much safer. But much more enjoyable, can explore areas you wouldn’t really bother going through in a car, and sometimes even faster because you avoid lights.
