So a few years ago I picked up a 2015 KHS SixFifty 6500 (here's the link to the full specs) largely due to a buddy of mine hoping I'd get into mountain biking. Needless to say, it didn't stick. My bike riding these days consists of:

  1. 40% on a 15 mile paved loop trail for workouts
  2. 25% on a gravel road riding with my boys
  3. 25% pulling a trailer with my daughter in it on family rides
  4. 10% at the dirt pump track and/or on easy single track with my boys

The KHS currently feels like overkill for how I ride. I currently have the bike up for sale, and realistically I may get $700 out of it if I proceed. I'm torn as to what to do.

My main complaints with the KHS are comfort-related on longer rides, which may be as simple as a different seat and handle grips.

With that said, I have it for sale because I'm thinking I'd be happier with something more like a basic hardtail or even a hybrid that has less extreme geometry and can accommodate "dad mode" better with things like room for saddle bags, fenders, etc.

However, if I only get $700ish out of the KHS, it's hard not to feel like I may end up some of my "dad mode" conveniences, but at the expense of lower quality components otherwise.

What route would you go?
