I purchased a $100 full suspension Ironhorse, 2907 before they became Walmart fodder. But in my haste, I did not measure the effective top tube properly and now I realize it’s too small for me.
A person in my area is selling a 2007 specialized Stumpjumper FSR Expert frame. I have all the parts from Iron Horse a Fox Talas 140 mm travel fork, 1×11 drive train SLX hydraulic brakes, Cane Creek sealed bearing headset to move all the parts over.
My questions are as follows:
This Stumpjumper originally had something called a “brain”Which the seller says he has.
Don’t know what the brain does, do I need it?
Brain or not, does this frame require a proprietary specialized shock or will any of the appropriate length do the trick?

The stumpy most definitely has a proprietary yoke and shock.
Run from all things brain. I had a camber with one and it was a PITA to get serviced and source parts for when it was relevant, and didn’t work all that well.
That Walmart bike probably has a straight steerer and I can’t say with 100% certainty but the 2007 is probably tapered, rendering them incompatible.
Someone may tell me I’m wrong but none of this seems like a good idea.
