No clue on year.
I usually do a normal clean and wash, and then a polish with either car polish or just spray on furniture polish if I’m being a lazy turd haha.
Usually it ends up looking great after that, though you aren’t fixing chips that way.
Personally I hit them with clear nail polish so the paint doesn’t continue to chip or rust underneath, and press on.
Pretty sure it’s a ’91. This should clean up and restore quite nicely. Nice find. Be sure to share with the [SingleTrackGang](https://www.reddit.com/r/SingleTrackGang/)!

Trek only used this cable routing from 1991-92. They used bottom pull derailleurs with a special Trek gizmo to route the cable, that’s why you someone added a clamp on cable stop.
