I have swapped a 10s derailleur setup to a Alfine 8 gates setup on my Bullitt cargo bike. I have a problem with a too long crank spindle…
At the moment I have a 2 mm spacer on each side, but still need a approx 5mm on left side to get left crank arm seated, look image.
My BB is a SM-BB52
Should I buy a new bottom bracket, and which one? Or space it out on the left side?

Is that the original crankset? That look too wide to fix with spacers.

The Alfine cranks should come with spacers that fit on the axle a 6mm driveside and 3mm non-driveside. It also uses the road BB which is a different width
That looks like you have a set of cranks meant not for a 68mm hub shell but a 73mm hub shell. I don’t think you’re going to get bearing cups with enough threading to run enough spacers on to fix that. Unless there’s some external spacers available somewhere that can be put around the axle? I’m not aware of such a product but in theory it would work .. if you were local I could try 3d printing some up…
edit: I’m just guessing on the 68/73. I know I always forget the difference between compatibility and check things before I go grab one to make sure it’ll fit…
also I was right, they do exist.

How wide is the bottom bracket tube of the bike frame? You have three spacers now, which should be correct to install a normal MTB crank on a 68mm shell.
Another option there is just switch it out with another Shimano crank, any road crank with 4×110 bcd would do.
