  1. I’m not familiar with the differences between the regular and TZ tourney but your main considerations are pull ratio, cage length and attachment style.

Pull Ratio: These should all be the same for anything Shimano between 6 to 9 speed so no worries there.

Cage Length: Unless the new one is way shorter than the old one, no worries there. It’s best to match but I don’t think there’s much of a disadvantage in going with a longer cage.

Attachment style: Just keep it consistent. Some of the older style bikes require an integrated claw on the [mech itself like this one](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256439018644?chn=ps&_ul=GB&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-166974-033325-9&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=256439018644&targetid=2274951440814&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9046639&poi=&campaignid=21908281852&mkgroupid=173985972881&rlsatarget=pla-2274951440814&abcId=10096449&merchantid=428628340&geoid=9046639&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAw5W-BhAhEiwApv4goPKjQ4vGETEe03ovKYMlaP6_kZOm3wFit3Zt_fDO0vZI_iu8i-FMiBoChYIQAvD_BwE). As long as the old one and the new one match with a regular bolt onto a hanger, it’ll be fine.

    In summary, almost certainly fine.

Edit: Found a [quora page that breaks down the differences. ](https://www.quora.com/Can-I-replace-Shimano-TZ-with-Shimano-Tourney)Anyway, even if the new tourney derailleur is ‘designed’ for a certain number of speeds, and yours is different – it won’t matter because the derailleur does what it’s old by the shifter and in this case. Other compoenents, like chains and cassettes are specific to the speed (7,8,9) but you can mix parts from different companies.
