I have been slowly gathering parts for my build, and decided with a using microshift sword 2x groupset. Apparently, it doesnt include a brakeset.

So… For the mechanical disc brakes, ive opted with using growtac equal brakes. Decided to finally splurge on the calipers and not getting the usually suggested ones – trp hyrd

Will go with the usual compresionless brake housing as well. Jagwire maybe? For the brakepads.. will be using a shimano alternative, k05s-rx

Still looking at options for the discs, but might get something in shimano as well. In 160mm size as well, front-rear.

Seems like there are only just a few reviews on it(growtac equal) and most dont often use them.

Anyone here have any onhand experiences on it? Anything i need to be aware off it?

Will post an update on here, once i receive the custom order growtac brakes as well..

Throwing it out there, disk brakes can be stupid finicky, both to set up and to maintain even pad wear. Those look cool, but if you’re set on mechanical brakes, trp does make the spire, and SRAM still makes the avid bb7 and bb5.

  2. Growtacs come with nice housings, no need for jagwire. Can’t comment on them though because I too am only obsessing about them without owning a pair.

I got 160mm campagnolo rotors for my Juin techs which look cool and work flawlessly

Where did you order these from? I’m seeing Velo Orange as the NA distributor and they come with like everything you’d ever need to install them.

Anyways, Yokozuna makes amazing compression less housing. Here: [https://www.somafabshop.com/shop/category/components-cable-housing-brake-cable-housing-2794](https://www.somafabshop.com/shop/category/components-cable-housing-brake-cable-housing-2794)

I actually got to play a hand in testing this housing, and it is fantastic.

Regarding the brakes, they feel absolutely amazing in hand. I’ve never felt a mechanical brake that felt so good. Even Paul Klampers. These things feel absolutely fantastic. You are going to love them.

The growtacs feel alright. I can only compare with Shimano hydraulic brakes so these feel good enough with 180mm on the front and 160 rear. Thinking of getting another pair for my next build in a few years
