I put a crate on the back like you. However, I get scared that someone can just yank my bag or shopping out of the crate without me noticing, so I added bungee cords to make it more secure. Yours looks like a decent set up very similar to mine.

My touring bike has an Ibera rear bike rack. It’s a great rack especially if you use panniers because it has the pannier connection at a different height than the horizontal part of the rack for putting things on top. Meaning you can easily load the top of the rack and have panniers.

My city bike has the Velo Orange Campeur rear rack and the Velo Orange Constructeur front rack with a Wald 1372 basket mounted on it. More expensive racks, but the need for pretty won and I’m able to carry my groceries between the two racks.

  3. I have a front basket and two panniers on the back. And a pvc pipe ski rack that I switch out with one of the panniers in the winter. I also have a child carrier oull behind that I can attach for picnics, and we got a large dog carrier for the dog. Which we will probably use for the picnics too.

  4. I feel like milk crates are the classic way to go. I’m just glad I found one in my garage randomly because I looked online once and they go for like $30 sometimes and end up being one of the flimsiest things ever.

  5. Using the Tern Cargo Tray with a “Really useful Box” (yes thats the brand name) 42liters that has a lid so my stuff doesn’t get wet. Secured it with a cargo strap and the two tern bungees the tray came with.

I use Walz collapsible baskets on either side in the back with a wicker basket on top. I can carry a week’s groceries home on that..
